TELE Greenland

TELE Greenland

– the national telecommunications company

GNC has installed a large part of the telecommunications cables in Nuuk in connection with renewal and reinforcement of the lines. We have installed cables in new parts of the city and established land-to-sea interfaces for submarine cables from abroad.

TELE Greenland aims to provide their customers with a secure line of communication to the outside world. In order to do so, they have wished to protect the submarine cables from shore-fast ice. GNC has contributed to the project as subcontractor to Visser & Smit Hanab.

Two large wells, 4.100 feet long, were to be dug into the seabed, ending 820 feet below the surface. GNC’s job was to prepare a closed site and establish a connection point between the bedrock and the special drilling machine that were to drill the wells. Furthermore, GNC had the task of rearranging the fiber land cables into splicing wells. GNC also carries out a wide variety of ad hoc tasks for TELE Greenland.
